Demonstration against Budget Cuts 05.11. and Arrival by Train
by Mika Lagendijk 04 Nov '25

04 Nov '25

Hello you MaPhIns! Tomorrow on 05.11. the demonstration against the higher education budget cuts will take place in Düsseldorf in front of the NRW State Parliament. Our student council will travel together with the AStA at 10:20 AM on the RE4 from Aachen HBF to Düsseldorf. You will probably recognize us by numerous signs and banners, and one of us will probably be wearing a red overall. Of course, you can also take any other train to Düsseldorf and simply join the demonstration yourself. For example, the mechanical engineering student council is taking the train at 11:20 AM, and you will likely find students on any other train as well. Below you will find a message from our AStA chair, Destina Kolac. See you tomorrow, come in large numbers! Best regards Your student council (Mika) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dear Students, On November 5, RWTH Aachen University will observe the Dies Academicus, which means that no classes will be held on that day. We would like to use this opportunity to demonstrate in Düsseldorf together with the Landes-ASten-Treffen and other student unions (ASten) from across NRW. The demonstration will start at 1:00 p.m. at Düsseldorf Central Station, followed by a rally at around 3:00 p.m. on the lawn in front of the state parliament. The protest is in response to the funding cuts in the higher education sector announced by the NRW state government: a total of 158 million euros per year is to be cut from the basic funding of universities. For RWTH Aachen this means around 15 million euros annually. In addition, from 2028 onwards, 240 million euros are to be withdrawn from university reserves. We fear that these cuts will result in staff reductions and will directly and negatively impact the quality of teaching and study conditions. We urgently call on you to take to the streets in Düsseldorf on November 5 and send a clear and unmistakable message: higher education is an investment in the future, and cuts to teaching and study conditions are unacceptable. Join the demonstration, bring your friends, and show the state government that we will not stand by idly. We go with the RE4 at 10:20 from Aachen Hbf. Up-to-date information on the planned cuts, the protest actions, as well as a template email to members of parliament can be found on the AStA website, which is continuously updated: https://www.asta.rwth-aachen.de/hochschulmittelkuerzung/ Thank you for your support — we are counting on you! Invitation to Blood on the Clocktower evenings in November
by Lars Frost (Fachschaft I/1) 01 Nov '25

01 Nov '25

Dear game enthusiasts, in November, the Fachschaft invites again to 2 Blood on the Clocktower evenings: When will we play? * 2025-11-10 18:30 - 23:00 * 2025-11-20 18:30 - 23:00 We will play in the seminar rooms ST 1,2,4 in SemiTEMP building [1] and will offer free snacks and water. Everyone is welcome, including people from other faculties or friends. What is Blood on the Clocktower? Blood on the Clocktower is a social deception game: a game where you try to deceive the enemy team. Those familiar with the game Werewolf will know the general principle. In Blood on the Clocktower there is an evil team with a demon, who can kill a player every night. The good team has to kill the demon. For that, they can execute one player per day. The good team therefore tries to find the demon through their own ability and discussions in small groups and on town square, and then tries to convince their own team to kill the suspected demon. The evil team tries to support and cover up the demon. Unlike Werwolf, dead players can still talk and have one vote after death. Usually, these ghost votes decide who wins on the last day. Also, all players, good and evil, have their own unique role and ability, which gives them power or information. To enable the evil team to better fake other roles, the demon learns 3 roles currently not in play during the start of the game. A round usually takes between 60 and 120 minutes. It is possible to join a running game, so it is no problem if you cannot be there from the start. The game has extra roles designed for joining later. We are looking forward to seeing you, your Spiele-AK [1] https://maps.rwth-aachen.de/navigator/?lang=de&type=roadmap&obj=1665 <https://maps.rwth-aachen.de/navigator/?lang=de&type=roadmap&obj=1665>
